Whitney Houston "Song Diva" Dies at 48. Just say "NO"

The famous Whitney Houston was found expired in her hotel room at Beverly Hilton On Saturday. The cause of death is unknown. Whitney Elizabeth Houston (August 9, 1963 – February 11, 2012) was an American singer, actress, producer, and model. In 2009, the Guinness World Records cited her as the most-awarded female act of all time.

I loved and admired Whitney Houston. My favorite song that she sang was "I believe in you and me". Her fans including me, remember the joy she put in our universe with her gift of song. We loved her for it, as a mother loves her child. Regardless of the struggles of Whitney, the love was still there with hopes of each new day that she would be able to turn things around. I want to take this time to wish her family and especially her daughter, Bobbie Kristina, condolences from Mobile Young Adults. My wish is after Bobbi grieves (we respect that) that she takes her love and respect for her mother and talk to young people who are suffering from lost as she has. She can heal and save a lot of young people. I know Whitney would be proud.

I also want to take a minute to talk to teens and young adults about substance abuse (not just drugs but alcohol, prescription drugs, cigarettes etc...). Her death may not have been related to substance abuse but it was well known that Whitney struggled with an addition. Please think of her death and see the opportunity to save your life and say "No to drugs". You don't have to be famous to share a story and pass the blessing of a clean life to someone else.

Here is my story: I remember when I was around 13, I was hanging out with a senior citizen cousin on a summer day, no one in the neighborhood was home except him. His younger half sister was working at a rehabilitation center and stopped by on her lunch break to borrow money. I was sitting on the porch. She approached me and asked me to go to her van and knock on the window as she spoke to her brother. There sat 8 young men between the age of 15 and 16 years of age. They all wore the same blue outfit looking straight ahead. Their heads were shaved. I knocked on the window and no one even flinched or turn to look or speak. She said, "knock harder". I did. She said, "yell", I did. They looked straight ahead. I became afraid. She said, "You know what happen to them? They all went to the same party. They are on a permanent high". That was all she said and all she needed to say. I never knew the lady's name and have never seen her since. I would like to thank her because she saved me from a life of drug and alcohol addition before it even got started. I never forgot that. Until this day, I have never seen anything like what I saw in that van many many years ago.

When I went to college as a young girl that was attractive and loved to party, I was offered all kinds of drugs- free. I made a decision that I would not date anyone who offered me or pressured me to take drugs because even though they may not mean it they were not being my friend. I also never left any drink around with an open top because people were putting substances in drinks (even soda pop). At that time there was a drug called "Spanish Fly" that would make people want to have sex. The college dorm mother warned everyone about it. I explained to the professional basketball, football players and college guys I dated on the first conversation that I don't do drugs and I don't want to be offered any or we can't be friends. It was not a blem but there is always one you got to prove it too.

Let's keep it 100%. You can also say no to sex until you are ready or married. You can party and not engage in sex or drugs. There are a lot of college graduates, professionals, doctors and lawyers that did. smile. Saying "No" nicely, will not be a problem unless you are somewhere they are selling drugs and they may not trust you if you don't do drugs. Hi, I know that a lot of you know Don Cornelius, the famous announcer of Soul Train, from your parents or reruns on TV. Today that era comes to a close. Its as if he shut the door and turned the light off. He passed away from a self inflicted gun shot wound. Soul Train was the hottest dance show of its time. Thanks Don.

I want to take this opportunity to talk to Mobile YA's teens and young adults, who hurt themselves or thinking of committing suicide. I will not preach to you. I just want you to know that when you are young everything seems so intense. The things that you expect to happen usually don't happen. That has been true my whole life. If by chance it does happen, it is never as bad as you think it is at that moment. LIVE. Never look back. Keep going. Each day is a gift to you from God. You can start over everyday. My advise to you is to believe in something bigger than yourself. Something good and positive. It will get you through your LIFE. I invite you to my faith the Trinity. President Obama Delivers the 2012 State of the Union Address

I am a firm believer that young people need to be politically aware. Therefore I included the full "State of The Union Address" video because you did not catch it on TV. I know you were busy with school work. smile. Here I attempt to interpret what the President said in relation to how it affects Mobile YA's Young Adults but first I would like to address the question "What is The State of the Union?"

What is "The State of The Union"?
The State of the Union is an annual address presented by the President of the United States to the United States Congress. The address not only reports on the condition of the nation but also allows the president to outline his legislative agenda (for which he needs the cooperation of Congress) and his national priorities.[1]The practice arises from a command given to the president in the Constitution of the United States:
“ He shall from time to time give to Congress information of the State of the Union and recommend to their Consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient."
— Article II, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution

Although the language of the Constitution is not specific, by tradition, the President makes this report annually in late January. While not required to deliver a speech, every president since Woodrow Wilson has made the State of the Union report as a speech delivered before a joint session of Congress. Before that time, most presidents delivered the State of the Union as a written report.

What does President Obama's State of the Union Address mean for Mobile YA's (Young Adults)?

The war is over. For the first time in nine years there are no Americans fighting in Iraq. Bin Laden is not a threat to the country. President Obama encourages Americans to focus on the mission at hand and work together so that everyone gets a fair shot, do their share and play by the same set of rules. If you make more than $1 million a year, you should not pay less than 30 percent in taxes. Washington should stop subsidizing millionaires .On the other hand, people who make under $250,000 a year, like 98 percent of American families, taxes shouldn't go up. He encourages everyone to keep and reclaim the American values. He wants to instill that: "hard work pays off".

"No, we will not go back to an economy weakened by outsourcing, bad
debt, and phony financial profits. Tonight, I want to speak about how
we move forward, and lay out a blueprint for an economy that's built
to last – an economy built on American manufacturing, American energy,
skills for American workers, and a renewal of American values".

The President proposes that every state require students to stay in school until they graduate or turn 18. Congress needs to stop interest on student loans from doubling in July. He wants to give more young people a chance to earn their way through college by doubling work study jobs. If colleges and universities do not stop cost from going up then subsidy will go down. The President states that he wants to help smart students from other countries, who can add to the economy, stay in the country and encourages congress to create a bill to do that. President Obama challenges businesses to bring jobs to US and train workers. New jobs will be created in the industry of clean energy and natural gas. He will empower development on enough public land to power 3 million homes with clean energy. He will clear red tape for the construction industry so it can expand. Homeowners will have a chance to keep homes with low interest loans with less red tape.

"That's why I'm sending this Congress a plan that gives every
responsible homeowner the chance to save about $3,000 a year on their
mortgage, by refinancing at historically low interest rates. No more
red tape. No more runaround from the banks. A small fee on the
largest financial institutions will ensure that it won't add to the
deficit, and will give banks that were rescued by taxpayers a chance
to repay a deficit of trust."

General Motors is back on top as the Worlds Number One Auto Maker. The American Auto Industry is back. He challenges businesses to train 2 million Americans workers that will lead directly to a job. Give community colleges resources to train workers.

"When kids do graduate, the most daunting challenge can be the cost of
college. At a time when Americans owe more in tuition debt than
credit card debt, this Congress needs to stop the interest rates on
student loans from doubling in July. Extend the tuition tax credit we

give more young people the chance to earn their way through college by
doubling the number of work-study jobs in the next five years.

Of course, it's not enough for us to increase student aid. We can't

their part by working to keep costs down. Recently, I spoke with a
group of college presidents who've done just that. Some schools

going up, the funding you get from taxpayers will go down. Higher
education can't be a luxury – it's an economic imperative that every
family in America should be able to afford.

Let's also remember that hundreds of thousands of talented,
hardworking students in this country face another challenge: The fact
that they aren't yet American citizens. Many were brought here as
small children, are American through and through, yet they live every
day with the threat of deportation. Others came more recently, to
study business and science and engineering, but as soon as they get
their degree, we send them home to invent new products and create new
jobs somewhere else. That doesn't make sense. I believe as strongly as ever that we should take on illegal immigration. That's why my Administration has put more boots on the border than ever before. That's why there are fewer illegal crossings
than when I took office.

The opponents of action are out of excuses. We should be working on
comprehensive immigration reform right now. But if election-year
politics keeps Congress from acting on a comprehensive plan, let's at
least agree to stop expelling responsible young people who want to
staff our labs, start new businesses, and defend this country. Send
me a law that gives them the chance to earn their citizenship. I will
sign it right away."

Top priority now: He wants to stop tax height on 160 million Americans while recovery is still fragile. The president wants to pass the "Payroll Tax Cut" without delay.

The President wants to open new markets for American products.

"Soon, there will be millions of new customers for American goods in Panama, Colombia, and South Korea. Soon, there will be new cars on the streets of Seoul imported from Detroit, and Toledo, and Chicago. He will appoint a special unit to investigate unfair business practices from foreign companies. I will go anywhere in the world to open new markets for American products. Tonight, I'm announcing the creation of a Trade Enforcement Unit that will be charged with investigating unfair trade practices in countries like China. There will be more inspections to prevent counterfeit or unsafe goods from crossing our borders. And this Congress should make
sure that no foreign company has an advantage over American
manufacturing when it comes to accessing finance or new markets like
Russia. Our workers are the most productive on Earth, and if the
playing field is level, I promise you – America will always win.And I will not stand by when our competitors don't play by the rules."

"We have a supply of natural gas that can last America nearly one
hundred years, and my Administration will take every possible action
to safely develop this energy. Experts believe this will support more
than 600,000 jobs by the end of the decade. And I'm requiring all
companies that drill for gas on public lands to disclose the chemicals
they use. America will develop this resource without putting the
health and safety of our citizens at risk."

Mobile Ya Interprets: Public dollars (government support) help get new energy products and innovations off the ground.We are the leaders in manufacturing chemical batteries as a result. He wants to strengthen Medicaid and Medicare and Social Security for elders. He wants the rich to pay more taxes without tax subsidies and discounts because if the rich do not pay their fair share without discounts it adds to the US deficit or someone else has to make up the differences. He states that is not right. He wants Congress to work together and on schedule. He wants to cut bureaucracy to make government leaner, more efficient and responsive to the American people. The President states the government should do for people only what they cannot do for themselves and no more. He will keep taking actions to help the economy grow. He states he can do more with our help. When we work together there is nothing we as an American people cannot achieve.

The President says our freedom endures because of the men and women in uniform who defend it. The President states he increased spending every year he has been in office for veterans because they deserve all their benefits. He encourages more job increase for veterans. The President proposed a new defense strategy that ensures we maintain the finest military in the world, while saving nearly half a trillion dollars in our budget. To stay one step ahead of our adversaries, He has sent Congress legislation that will secure our country from the growing danger of cyber-threats. He states if we work together and not be selfish then the State of the Union will always be strong.

Review: Ti and Tiny: The Family Hustle

Even though I am not a rap music fan (they talk to fast)smile, I must say that I am really impress with rapper TI's show (VH1). He is taking the family show to another level. Remember Bill Crosby (Kids Say The Darnest Things)? Remember Bernie Max? This show beats them both because it is up to date and deal with issues that most blended families have to deal with whether they are rich or not. The experience is personal because the family is his family. The show is fun and entertaining. It is PG because they beep out inappropriate words and they are just a few. Many males of all ages tell me the show is their favorite and see Ti representing in a positive manner. My favorite show was the one aired last night, which he expresses to everyone in his family that all secrets must have a permit. He of course is the only one authorized to give such a permit. He gets weird out over the idea that his 10 year old daughter shared secrets with other family members, including Tiny, that she had a boyfriend. He is upset about it and visits his 10 year old daughter's mother to discuss it. Ti shows his lady, Tiny, love and respect as well as the other mother of his child from an earlier relationship. Tiny is definitely top class and stylish. She carries herself like a lady. I know we can't say that about some of the other wives on other shows. I won't call any names because it is so many of them. Thumbs up to Ti and Tiny and the Family Hustle.!!!!

It seems a new tradition in many homes during the holidays to see a Tyler Perry Comedy film. This year he did not disappoint. There has been many controversial views on Tyler's choices of films but this one stays true to his beginning. It's a Christmas reunion between the wealthy uptight and the common folks. Secrets are revealed dramatically, a Tyler's signature. I think, Grant has a hit song "Is it him or me?". It is a movie to see if you want to laugh, cry and laugh again. The singers are fantastic, another Tyler signature. Tyler introduces more new talent. A must see. A family movie.

I took my teen daughter, her teen best friend and my best friend to see this movie. Actually, I was the driver for the teenagers so I thought we may as well make it an evening. Below is the plot from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. I thought it was very accurate. But first my intake on the story is that it was really chilling. The movie savored every moment of emotions. The acting has improved greatly. This movie has Jacob playing a very large part. There were mixed emotions among my group but the final census from the teens was they liked the movie very much. I thought it was a little scary and weird. A surprise graphic short bed scene made me tell the teens to close their eyes- but they did not. I played gospel music on the way home. Its a go see.

1, XFACTOR - The second half of the final 32 "X Factor" acts performed in front of the judges at their respective homes on Sunday's episode, vying for spots in the top 16. Those 16 will compete in the show's live episodes and ultimately battle it out for a $5 million recording contract.

I loved this past Sunday's episode and can't wait to see who will make the finals for the prize of 5 million. The show had a different flavor by meeting at the judges homes. I liked it. Who will you vote for? I must say this show is showcasing some real talent. Here is the Xfactor YouTube Channel videos for the latest show. I think Marcus and Tiah blew things up. The lipstick on Tiah was a bit much. However, I would love to see Marcus and Tiah sing together. See all the auditions on the video below.

2. Reed Between the Lines (BET) - A show featuring professional parents who are raising children. The show stars Tracee Ellis Ross and Malcolm-Jamal Warner. The second episode deals with parents recognizing and dealing with a spoiled child. There's a scene when the secretary makes fun of acupuncture and calls it Voodoo. My favorite lines that Tracey spoke to her were: "Just because you don't understand something does not mean it is not valid. Many people do not understand therapy and are going without the help they need" BRAVO. This show is a sitcom, funny, and intelligent. I also liked the scene when the parents met one of the kids friend and the guy that the teenager had a crush on. He was totally out of line by being too friendly. However, I don't know why Trace saw the need to be sexy for the sandwich guy, since she is happily married. I hope that personality of her old show "Girlfriends" does not come through. I liked girlfriends but the characters were beginning to be a little weird-really into themselves. I think if the show deal with issues it will be a winner.

3. Person of Interest. Mr. Finch (Michael Emerson), a mysterious billionaire, has developed a computer program that predicts the identity of people connected to violent crimes that will take place in the future. However, the program has its limitations; for example, it cannot predict whether the person will be a victim, perpetrator, or witness, nor can it predict when or where the crime will take place. Unable to stop the crimes on his own, Finch hires John Reese (Jim Caviezel), a former CIA field officer who is presumed dead, to help stop the crimes from taking place. Henson who in one episode plays the mother of a baby that has been kidnapped by the father and taken to Korea. Taraji gets gusty and goes to Korea. True Story.

4. The Gifted Man - (CBS) a talented but self-absorbed surgeon (Patrick Wilson) who starts questioning his purpose in life when he is visited by the spirit of his deceased ex-wife (Jennifer Ehle). This is a busy show with a lot of angles. I really liked it.

5. American Horror Story (FX) - American Horror Story is a horror-drama television series created and produced by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. The series centers on the Harmon family, Ben, Vivien and their daughter Violet, who move from Boston to Los Angeles after Ben has an affair and Vivien has a miscarriage. They move into a restored mansion, unaware that the home is haunted If you like horror you will love this show.

1. Put a PASSWORD on your phone in case you lose it. No one can get into your contact info.
2. Do not let people borrow your cell phone and Do not let your cell phone out of your site. It will be wise to hide it in case you find it easier to tell someone you don't have a cell
phone. Keep it on vibrate.
3. Do not post your cell phone number on the internet, business cards, posters or flyers. Use a virtual service like Grasshopper. The service gives you a phone number to post on business cards, fliers, internet etc. When you receive a call the service will transfer your calls to your cell phone or desired phone (land land) without giving out your phone number
4. Take the battery out every once in a while to break spyware. For at least 30 minutes.
5. Use antivirus software if you have a smartphone (it is free)
6. Ask the phone company to show UNKNOWN as your listing on Caller ID so your number will not pop up on caller ID with each use. You can't block UNKNOWN so don't worry. The people who you want to have your number will already have it because you gave it to them with a word of caution to keep it private.
7. Buy smart- Chose smart phones with encryption of data. I think the only one that you can buy in the stores is the Blueberry. If you know of another, please share your comments.
8. Change your phone number and don't give it out because if you think someone is bugging your phone, they probably are. If you have to give it out to a few people ask them to refrain from passing on your number to others without your permission.
if possible change your phone if you think someone may have had access to it.
9. Be careful what you say on a mobile phone or cordless phone because it is generally considered public.
10.Review your cell phone bill and text messages for strange numbers or numbers you do not recognize.

Please: Do not give out other's cell phone numbers without their permission.

UPDATE: Erase all text messages, Remove the battery, Turn off Bluetooth and Wi Fi on your phone through the speaker menu.You can turn it on when you want to use it then turn it off again.

Music is in the air as summer comes to a close. I prefer to review movies and games but I know everyone listens to music. Because there are so many different types of music, I won't review the music, just list the top 10 digital downloaded songs by Billboard hot 100 charts for September 2011. The number one song is beautiful. I have always loved solo love songs sang to a piano. YouTube music videos are included with live performances and backstage interviews. 10. Slice It! Slice It! is the sleeper hit of the bunch. Available for both Androids and iPhones, this game challenges you to slice figures into the different ratios and surface areas. It starts off easy, but gets complicated in a hurry. With the exception of BitLetters, this is probably the only game you can rationalize as a brain-buster, and with 60 levels, there's no quick end in sight. BILLBOARD released its' 21 Under 21 years of age list. I expanded the list with background information from the free on-line wiki encyclopedia just for Mobile YA Readers. Its easy enough to know what they do but what we really want to know is How were they discovered? Do they have handicaps they overcame? Did you know that most were raised by single mothers? Nick Jonas was born in Dallas,[1] the son of Denise (née Miller), a former sign language teacher and singer, and Paul Kevin Jonas, Sr., a songwriter, musician, and former ordained minister at an Assemblies of God church.[2][3][4]He was diagnosed with Type I diabetes at the age of 13 and wears an OmniPod insulin pump to help him manage his condition.[8] He has developed the Change for the Children Foundation. Partnering with five different charities, their goal is to raise money and awareness for diabetes.[9] He also developed a public service announcement with the Washington Nationals to support diabetes care at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.[10]

She is an American actress and pop singer-songwriter. She achieved wide fame for her role as Miley Stewart/Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel sitcom Hannah Montana. Cyrus's godmother is entertainer Dolly Parton. 11. Lex Luger (20) Lexus Lewis (born March 6, 1991)[1] better known by his stagename Lex Luger, is an American record producer from Suffolk, Virginia. Luger started his career by playing the drums and learned about beats, measures, and bars. Then he started working with turntables. Music Generator was a game for PlayStation 2, and he would make beats on it. He would then move to a PC-based program and would get a used MPC 2000 sampler from his uncle. His friend Black then introduced him to Fruity Loops, the music-production software. The first beat he heard that he made on the radio was the instrumental of Waka Flocka's "Hard in the Paint." He was in Atlanta and just happened to have the radio loud enough to hear the beginning of the song. Also while in Atlanta, he got a phone call from Kanye West. He did not even realize who he was talking to for about 30 minutes. Once realizing who it was, Lex was excited and agreed to fly to New York to work with Kanye. He played him many different beats and was surprised that Kanye liked certain ones. He would eventually leave Kanye with eight beats, one of them being the beat of the single "HAM." Lex would call the beat a movie, stating how Kanye added a lot of other elements of the song that made it what it is , and then laughed .

Taylor Momsen (18) Taylor Michel Momsen (born July 26, 1993)[1] is an American actress, musician and model who portrays the character of Jenny Humphrey on the CW television series Gossip Girl and portrayed the role of Cindy Lou Who in How the Grinch Stole Christmas,[2] and fronts the rock band The Pretty Reckless.

Her parents are Michael and Collette Momsen and she has a younger sister, Sloane Momsen, who is also an actress. Chris Colfer (21) Christopher Paul "Chris" Colfer born May 27, 1990 is an American actor, singer, and writer known for his portrayal of Kurt Hummel on the television series Glee, for which he won a 2011 Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor. Colfer was also named to Time magazine's 2011 list of the world's 100 most influential people. Colfer was born in Clovis, California. New Boyz (19) New Boyz is an American hip hop/rap and jerkin crew duo made up of rappers Earl "Ben J" Benjamin (born October 13, 1991) and Dominic "Legacy" Thomas (born October 12, 1991)[1] from Hesperia, California. They debuted in summer 2009 with their viral hit, "You're a Jerk", taken from their debut studio album Skinny Jeanz and a Mic, released in September 2009. The song peaked in the top thirty of the Billboard Hot 100, and it was the first song to bring the jerkin' style to the national forefront. Benjamin and Thomas met as freshmen at Hesperia High School.[2] The two were originally rivals, but became friends over a common interest in music. Nikki Yanofsky (17) Nicole "Nikki" Yanofsky (born February 8, 1994) is a Canadian jazz-pop singer from Hampstead, Quebec.[1] She is involved in charitable causes, and released her first studio album on her own label, A440 Entertainment, and on Decca Records outside of Canada. Yanofsky sang Canada's national anthem at the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. She also performed during the closing ceremonies and the Paralympic opening ceremony.

Teens and Young Adults love getting tattoos. According to my research, many teens get tattoos to express themselves, not to get back at parents. A tattoo is a marking made by inserting ink into the dermis layer of the skin to change the pigment. Tattoos on humans are a type of decorative body modification.

I have included a few really nice videos of teens showing their tattoos and they tell the reasons why they got them. They get tattoos because of religious beliefs, remembrance of dead parents or close ones etc... When my daughter was 14, she begged me for a tattoo. I bought temporary ones from Wal-mart. She wore a couple of small ones. Changed them out and then fell out with the fad after about a month. Good thing they were not permanent. Now she is older and does not have a tattoo or desire to have one. If you are not sure how long or if you want to have a tattoo, you may want to consider making temporary tattoos or buying them.

Kung Fu Panda

DreamWorks Animation and Paramount’s Kung Fu Panda 2 also contributed to the boom, grossing $62.4 million in its first four days (like Hangover, Panda opened on Thursday). The 3D toon should end Monday with a five-day total of $68.2 million.

Kung Fu Panda impressed overseas, where it grossed a mighty $57 million from 8,023 markets in only 11 territories. In seven territories, it scored the best opening ever for an animated title and in China, scored the biggest opening of all time for a foreign film in grossing $18.5 million. I took a few kids to see this and they loved it and so did I. Astounding art work. Great Job!

Mobile YA Review of The Movie Fast Five

I saw this film with friends and my teenage daughter. Everyone loved it. If its action, its my kind of movie. All the big players are in this one.

For development of Fast Five, a conscious effort was made by Universal Studios to shift away from the street racing theme prevalent in previous films in the series. Emphasis was instead placed on transforming the franchise into a heist action series that utilized cars in an attempt to attract wider audiences that may otherwise be turned off by the series' focus on cars and car culture. Fast Five is considered the transitional film in the series, featuring only one car race with more attention given to action set-pieces such as gun fights, brawls and the heist of $100 million.

Following its release, Fast Five garnered critical praise, becoming the highest rated entry in the franchise, and financial gain, breaking box office records to become the highest grossing opening weekend in an April and the second highest opening weekend in Spring, earning $168 million. As of May 22, 2011, Fast Five has grossed over $500 million worldwide.

On mothers day I was treated like royality. It was church, dinner and a movie. My family know I love big screen special effect movies. The mall theatre was packed. I like to go when everyone is there to hear the audience response. There's always that line: Don't add your own soundtrack to the movie. I was happy to see many great movies coming out this summer from the previews and there were many. I don't know what happen last summer.

The movie: THOR: The God of Thunder gets a 10. The highest score. The effects were wonderful. The actors and actresses could act and they all were grown folk sexy cool. I thought it wonderful to entail a fairy tail into the super hero movie. I must admit I did not read comic books when I was younger but I am loving these super hero movies. Chris Hemsworth who played THOR was worth his paycheck. Idris Elba played the gate keeper to the point I could not image anyone else doing it better. Tom Hiddleston who played Thors' brother played the Caine and Able bit devilishly. Anthony Hopkins, Thors' father, still got it. The story had a moral but not preachy point. "If you can't follow you can't lead." Thor was put in a followers footstep to develop his skill as a leader and an unselfish person. It is playing in 2D and 3D. There is also a game. After seeing this you may want another fix. Go back and pull out: Iron Man, X-Men, Matrix, Fantastic Four and Superman. Did I miss any?

What's In Your Purse?

I recently went shopping for an everyday bag. It took two days and several stores. I realized this was a serious venture. My bag has to carry all my stuff without me digging for everything. I must be able to reach my cell phone immediately. These are things my everday bag must have.

1. At least one outside pocket but preferably two: 1. cell phone and 2. medicine.
2. Stiff dividers in the inside to separate cosmetics from planner and money purse.
3. The bag must zip up or have a flap as to not to reveal contents to theives.
4. Shoulder strap. I have a tendency to lay down a hand purse while shopping.
5. Not too big. I don't want secuity following me because my purse is large.

SUMMER JOBS FOR STUDENTS- ( part 2 -government jobs announcements)

I decided to write a second post expanding on government announcements for high school and college students, even graduate students because I don't think many students are aware of these programs and how they are designed to walk you through with experience to the top of your chosen career. First, the summer search for all government jobs for students can be done at USA JOBS FOR STUDENTS. Take notice of the drop down menu at the bottom of the page.

Take a few hours to set up your profile, search and apply for jobs. You may upload your resume but it will not be searchable. There is an option to build a searchable resume. You want all the government agencies to find you so I recommending doing both, upload your prepared resume for safe keeping and easy access, then build a searchable one. Make the one you build the active one. It's all in the name. Take time to name your resume close to the job title you want. It's like naming a business. Hopefully people can tell by the name what business you are in. Take time to scan and upload portolios, written references, transcripts, certificates and certifications in the document section. Make copies of searches you wish to apply for and note the deadline dates. Make sure you meet the qualifications or you will be disqualified. If you don't meet the qualifications for a job you think is perfect for you, just keep searching. Contact information is given for questions on the job description. All that being said, it takes a few tries to figure out the application process when it comes to adding your experience. It rates "medium of ease" in user friendly. Get pen, paper, and documents. STEP provides part-time federal jobs to students that can last as little as one summer or as long as the duration of your college career. STEP positions are paid. The work does not have to be related to your field of study, allowing you to gain experience in other fields.

Student Career Experience Program (SCEP)
SCEP allows you to gain experience working for the government in a job related to your field of study. Most positions are paid and some also provide academic credit towards your degree.

To participate in SCEP, the hiring agency must have a formal agreement with your educational institution. SCEP positions are available to undergraduate and graduate students. You must be a U.S. citizen or national in most cases. However, if the hiring agency’s appropriation act permits non-citizen employees, and you are eligible to work under U.S. immigration laws, you can participate in the program.

If you successfully complete 640 hours of work within the SCEP program, you are eligible to be hired to a permanent position without going through the traditional hiring process. Recent additions to the program allow agencies to waive up to half of the required 640 hours for students with certain job-related experience acquired in a structured work-study program, active duty military service or if you have exceptional job performance and academic excellence (3.5 GPA out of a 4.0 scale, standing in the top 10% of the graduating class and/or induction into a nationally recognized scholastic honors society) while enrolled in the program.

Presidential Management Fellows Program . The Presidential Management Fellows Program (PMF) is a prestigious two year program which is designed to prepare you for upper-level management positions in the federal government. You must be in your final year of a graduate program and must receive a nomination from your school before being considered for the PMF program.
